SMS Consent & Opt-In Policy

This page describes how SepticStream collects and records consent before sending SMS/text messages to customers.

How we obtain consent

We use two methods depending on how a customer books service:

Online service requests

When a customer submits a request through our online form, an unchecked checkbox is displayed:

I agree to receive text messages from SepticStream about my service
appointments — confirmations, technician arrival updates, and invoices — at
the number provided. Message frequency varies; message and data rates may
apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. **Consent is not a condition
of service.**

The customer must affirmatively check this box to opt in. Leaving it unchecked means no SMS will be sent. Service is provided regardless of whether the customer consents to text messages.

Phone bookings — verbal opt-in

When a customer calls to schedule service, our office staff asks:

"Would you like text updates about your appointment — a confirmation and
a message when your technician is on the way? Message and data rates may
apply, frequency varies, and you can reply STOP anytime to opt out. Do I
have your permission to text you at this number?"

We enable texting only after the customer says yes, and we record the consent (date and who took it) in the customer's record. Texting is optional and is never required to receive service.

What messages we send

All messages are transactional / service-related (not marketing):

  • Appointment confirmations and reminders
  • Technician en-route notifications with estimated arrival time
  • Job completion and invoice notifications

Every message identifies our business and includes "Reply STOP to opt out."

No sale of opt-in data

We do not sell or share phone numbers, opt-in consent, or SMS data with third parties for their own marketing purposes. Phone numbers are used exclusively to deliver the service messages described above. See our [Privacy Policy](/legal/privacy) for full details.
